Mammoth Cave deemed ‘rock star’ by Washington Post

The Washington Post’s travel section usually covers the most exotic places on Earth. But recently it featured a spot inside the Earth – Kentucky’s Mammoth Cave National Park. The writer recounted his experience taking the park’s “longest, most intensive” tour – while covering the history of the cave and park.

The story ends with his experience sitting in complete darkness in the cave.

“It was hard to imagine as we sat there briefly, in a sort of silent reverence, that there could be anything like this exact place in the world. And, in fact, with Mammoth Cave, there’s not.”
