The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet’s Bridging Kentucky program is designed to replace, rehabilitate or repair over 1,000 bridges statewide. It’s easy to feel removed from this work unless a program bridge affects you directly.
One brilliantly sunny day, our team stopped to look at a bridge outside Woodford County. The bridge was breathtaking – exposed stone, people fishing in the creek – but abandoned and closed to traffic.
We build our world around roads and bridges. Sometimes simply getting out of the car to see an old bridge, waiting to be restored to its former glory, reminds us these programs are worthwhile.
