What’s it like to come together with strangers from three states and create a band performance in just a few hours?

Ask the nearly 500 seventh and eighth graders who attended the Tri-State Middle School Honor Band Clinic at Morehead State University a week ago. Guest conductors who specialize in working with young musicians were selected to orchestrate the event.

When the students arrived on Saturday morning, they were meeting their conductor and seeing the selected sheet music for the first time. Just a few hours later, they were performing for an audience in the university’s 1,000 seat Button Auditorium.
