One of the toughest things about interstate work is keeping traffic moving while work gets done.
That’s true of the Sherman Minton bridge, which is due for important improvements but carries more than 90,000 daily crossings between downtown Louisville and New Albany. Options range from a full closure to keeping two lanes open each way.
A combination of options is likely. The work gets done faster when more lanes are closed – but headaches for drivers can also increase.
The project team is gathering public input through an online survey. More than 200 community members have attended recent open houses.
