The recent opening of a $46 million facility in Bardstown illuminated a long-running international relationship between Japan and Kentucky.

Takigawa Corporation is bringing 180 new jobs to Nelson County. Takigawa produces flexible films and packaging material for commercial goods. (Their products include pouches, like those that contain food, pet food, cosmetics and coffee.)

Last year, Kentucky Gov. Matt Bevin reported that Japan is the largest international investor in Kentucky, with Japanese-owned companies operating more than 190 facilities and employing 46,000 people. That relationship continues to grow – there have been over 60 new or expansion projects since 2016.
