Northern Kentucky home to its own Notre Dame

Kentucky Notre Dame

More than 4,000 miles from Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris sits a little Notre Dame in Covington, Kentucky.

The Cathedral Basilica of the Assumption, a stunning piece of Gothic architecture, was inspired by the original Notre Dame, the famous Gothic cathedral of the Middle Ages that suffered a devastating fire earlier this month.

While one-third Notre Dame’s size, Covington’s basilica looks strikingly similar and is one of 85 minor basilicas in the US. Thousands of visitors tour the cathedral or attend mass each year. But, if you don’t have time to visit, you can take a virtual tour.
