Kentucky might be known for horses and basketball, but lately it has been receiving attention in another area – organ donation. A Kentucky patient and University of Louisville Hospital were featured in an episode of HBO’s “Vice News Tonight,” helping dispel some myths about donation.
The documentary sparked an episode of the CBS show “The Doctors”, and on the same day it aired, a bill was signed into law in Kentucky expanding options to register as a donor.
“Kentucky’s law could serve as a national model,” said Shelley Snyder with Kentucky Organ Donor Affiliates. “You never know who you might save.”
