Bowling Green’s Corvette Plant is shifting into a higher gear. General Motors, maker of the classic car, recently announced plans to hire 400 more workers and add a second shift to meet consumer demand.

“The Corvette’s iconic status owes so much to the men and women of Bowling Green, where it has been built exclusively for almost 40 years,” said GM CEO Mary Barra.

Kentucky is one of nation’s leading manufacturers of automobiles. The industry accounts for nearly 100,000 jobs throughout two-thirds of our counties and adds $14 billion to our economy, according the Kentucky Automotive Industry Association.
