Once known mainly for bluegrass, Kentucky is striking new notes these days with a growing focus on music festivals. September will see three major festivals in Louisville alone:
• The new Hometown Rising Country Music & Bourbon Festival – featuring Pikeville’s own Dwight Yoakam.
Rounding out the summer is June’s bluegrass ROMP Festival in Owensboro and July’s Forecastle Festival, which attracts 75,000 people from 50 states to Louisville.
The economic benefits of these major festivals help the entire state – especially since the Kentucky Bourbon Trail convinces visitors to extend their stay and travel throughout the state.
