Opportunities for aviation maintenance technician training in Kentucky will reach new heights next year thanks to a new Eastern Kentucky University program launched this month.
The 18-month training program is slated to begin January 2020 in six Eastern Kentucky locations, funded in part with $1.4 million from the Appalachian Regional Commission.
Students will get hands-on experience at regional airports in Kentucky, where there’s a growing demand for AMTs. The program was created to help Kentucky’s workforce develop highly sought skills relevant to the emerging aerospace industry cluster and help the state’s economic and industrial growth, officials said.
