The first bus rapid transit system in the region will launch soon in Louisville, a significant milestone of The New Dixie Highway Project.
The $35 million, two-year project has improved the safety and efficiency of one of Louisville’s most dangerous roadways. The nine Rapid buses will communicate with traffic signals, which will hold green lights for a few extra seconds when buses approach.
Dixie Rapid buses will run every 15 minutes during the day, connecting thousands of workers and students to downtown and beyond. The project also added shelters and upgraded sidewalks and crosswalks for a safer, more comfortable commute.
