Reading should be part of summer. A new children’s book called “The Meatshower” explores the enduring mystery of an 1876 occurrence in Bath County, Kentucky. Meat – yes, meat – fell from the sky. It has never been explained.
Theories abound, including one involving barfing vultures. (You can see why kids would love to read about that.) A sample of the meat has been preserved at Transylvania University in Lexington. DNA experts, get on it.
The book is subtitled “The Mostly True Tale of an Odd (and Somewhat Edible) Occurrence” and is written and illustrated by Louisvillians Mick Sullivan and Shae Goodlett.
