No more snappy beer cheese, fried chicken or deli lunches in downtown Frankfort. Bryant’s Pic-Pac, a five-aisle grocery by the Singing Bridge, closed in July.
Pic-Pac’s walkable location was convenient for many of Frankfort’s most vulnerable citizens – the elderly, disabled and low-income families – folks who may suffer the most.
Owner Danny Bryant spent 44 years here – knowing hundreds of shoppers by name. He didn’t want to close, but a shrinking customer base and the proliferation of dollar stores squeezed his margins beyond viability. Now, the city’s groceries are outside the downtown core, best reached by car.
