Most pet owners unprepared for emergencies, study shows

If you had to leave home in 60 seconds, do you have a plan? For you? For your pets?

Do you know how to perform CPR on your dog? Would a neighbor know to notify firemen of your cat? If you evacuated because of a hurricane, would you be able to quickly grab a two-week supply of pet food and medicine?

A recent PetFirst Pet Insurance survey indicated that for most families the answers to those questions is “no.” Luckily, the American Veterinary Medical Foundation offers a complimentary booklet with preparedness advice, and it’s never too late to plan.
