New soccer stadium touts perfect pitch

The grass will be greener at the new Louisville City FC stadium. But it’s not Kentucky bluegrass; a special kind of Bermuda grass called Tahoma 31 has taken root.

Developed to be the ideal sports playing surface, the grass is drought resistant and wear tolerant. Messer/Harmon JV recently rolled out the green carpet with VIPs and Lou City soccer players, coaches and executives at a press event unveiling the perfectly planted pitch.

Beneath the field, a SubAir system will quickly drain water to avoid rainout games and blow heated air into the roots so they stay green in cooler weather.
