Murray State University recently celebrated its new Center for Agricultural Hemp, claiming its place as a Kentucky leader in the nation’s fast-growing hemp industry.

Kentucky’s history with hemp was recently detailed in a Los Angeles Times story, which put Kentucky as one of the top four producers in the United States.

Since 2014, when Murray State University planted the first legal agricultural hemp research plot, it has played a key role in the exploration of the crop – working with key members of the agricultural industry as well as legislators, companies and researchers to develop the industry throughout the state.
