Empty nest syndrome can be hard for parents, but one Kentuckian channeled that feeling into a positive goal and healthy lifestyle changes. His success was featured in a national magazine.

Runner’s World recently featured the story of Mike Taulbee from Richmond, Kentucky. He lost 150 pounds after his daughter went to college. Taulbee said he started walking and moved to running, eventually completing a marathon.

In the story, Taulbee talks about the ups and downs of his journey – and the life-changing impact it had on him. “I can do things I’ve never been able to do before,” he said.
