The cost of a college education is a stressor for many students, but those at Kentucky State University in Frankfort won’t have to worry about the expense of buying a computer anymore.
Starting this fall, the university will give freshmen laptops. KSU already provides electronic textbooks, but some students were reading those on smartphones. Using electronic textbooks on a laptop is easier.
Providing first-time students with accessible technology isn’t exclusive to KSU. This initiative is becoming a trend at universities nationwide. At the University of Kentucky, for example, freshmen will be provided with iPads at no cost this fall.
