The Kentucky Department for Public Health will begin tracking vaping-related illnesses in following weeks. This move comes as hundreds of cases of severe lung illness have been reported among young adults in 25 states, including at least five deaths.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Kentucky has the second highest percentage of vapers in the country. Unfortunately, popular flavors make vaping particularly attractive to youth populations.
Meanwhile, there’s an ongoing question of whether vapers will pay higher insurance premiums as the potential health consequences become clearer. Those who smoke traditional tobacco already pay higher premiums.
