National Infrastructure Week launched May 13 with a timely message for Kentucky: “Let’s Build for Tomorrow – Starting Now.”
Kentucky has significant, unmet infrastructure needs and must invest an additional $500 million each year to ensure that our roads, bridges and other projects continue to support our growing economy, according to the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet and an independent economic analysis by Commonwealth Economics.
“We have about $500 billion worth of goods moving in and out and through Kentucky annually,” said Kate Shanks, vice president of policy development at the Kentucky Chamber of Commerce. “The foundation of our economy is our infrastructure.”
