This summer finds many of us rethinking our travel plans, which might mean a series of long weekends and day trips. Kentucky’s got you covered, whether you’re looking for some relaxing fun with the family or an unusual, off-the-beaten-path excursion all by yourself.

Check out seven miles of underground wonder on a boat tour of Lost River Cave, or choose to stay above ground and jump on the Big South Fork Scenic Railway for a train trip through rugged Appalachia.
