A summer’s worth of wisdom

by
working at desk

The most important lessons learned from my first summer jobs – be a resourceful problem solver, drink plenty of water and don’t stand up in a canoe.

Summer jobs and internships teach high school and college students what to expect when classrooms turn into the work world. Young adults can learn how to set priorities, assert themselves, deal with unhappy customers, meet deadlines, recover from failure and more.

Smart employers take time to mentor and teach. After all, we want a stream of bright, prepared people in our fields, not just cheap labor while co-workers take vacations.

Share your wisdom.
